A VFW Honor Guard is
a group of volunteer veterans from the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization who are dedicated to providing military funeral honors at the funerals of fellow veterans, including a three-volley salute, the playing of Taps, and the ceremonial folding and presentation of the American flag to the family, as a way to pay respect and acknowledge the service of the deceased veteran; they often participate in community events like parades by carrying the flag as part of a Color Guard.
