Finishing Strong and Looking Ahead
As my term as Commander of Daniel B. Persyn Memorial VFW Post 7108 comes to a close this June, I want to express my sincere gratitude to every member of this post. Serving as your Commander has been one of the greatest honors of my life, and I am deeply thankful for the trust, support, and fellowship you have shown throughout my time in office.
Over the course of this term, we have accomplished a great deal together. These achievements are not mine alone—they belong to this entire post. They are a reflection of what can happen when dedicated Comrades work together with a shared purpose and commitment to progress.
I am especially proud that our post achieved All-State and All-American recognition. That accomplishment speaks volumes about the hard work, dedication, and strength of this membership. It shows that Post 7108 continues to stand among the very best, and that together we are setting a standard of excellence for others to follow.
We have also made meaningful improvements to our post home that will benefit us well into the future. The insulation added to the ceiling has already made a noticeable difference, including a significant decrease in our electric bill. That improvement was not only practical, but it also showed that smart investments in our post can have a lasting impact.
Our canteen has also seen important progress. We proved that we can operate as a full-service canteen that serves not only our members, but also our Auxiliary and the broader community. That has been an important step forward for our post. In addition, the redesign of the canteen has allowed us to better accommodate full occupancy, and that improvement came at exactly the right time. We needed that space, and it has already made a difference in how we gather, serve, and grow.
Another improvement that will continue to serve us well is the addition of more parking in the front. By making use of an area that had been underutilized, we were able to improve access and convenience for our members and guests. It is another example of how progress often comes from recognizing opportunity and acting on it.
As I reflect on this term, I do so with pride—not only in what we accomplished, but in who we are as a post. The strength of Post 7108 has always been its people. It is found in the members who step up, put in the work, support one another, and remain committed to the mission of the VFW. That spirit is what has driven every success we have had.
While my term as Commander may be ending, my commitment to this post does not end with it. I will continue to stand beside you as a proud Comrade, ready to support the work of this post and the veterans we serve. I have full confidence that the future of Daniel B. Persyn Memorial VFW Post 7108 is bright, because this post is built on dedication, leadership, and service.
Thank you again for allowing me to serve as your Commander. It has been a privilege I will always carry with pride. Let us continue moving forward together, building on what we have achieved, honoring the traditions of the VFW, and leaving this post stronger for those who follow us.
Yours in Comradeship,
Commander Stephen Starbuck
